Adult TCK/Expat
Story Coaching
We were created for community, belonging, and a secure identity.
Living overseas can often blur the lines and leave people feeling unanchored
Where are you from?
Support for TCKs, Missionaries, and Expats
Have you lived across cultures—whether as a child or adult—and felt the weight of constant transitions, loss, or trauma? Maybe you carry stories from your TCK childhood, or from serving abroad, that you’ve never been able to process. I offer trauma-informed story coaching to help you make sense of those experiences.
Who I work with:
Adult TCKs (Third Culture Kids: missionary kids, military kids, expat kids, second-generation immigrants, etc.)
Missionaries and expat workers
Military personnel and their families
Humanitarian aid workers
TCKs grow up “in between” cultures—never fully belonging to one or the other. This unique way of growing up can bring many gifts, but also challenges: identity confusion, a revolving door of friendships, belonging fatigue, code-switching, and the pain of never quite knowing where “home” is.
Missionaries, expats, and military families face similar struggles: loss, trauma, decision fatigue, and the ongoing stress of life across cultures.
I’ve lived in four countries and raised my children around the world. They’ve shown me the power of grieving well and creating meaningful rituals through each transition.
Since leaving my Tennessee childhood home at 18, I’ve lived in five US cities and three different countries. I’ve raised kids in each of these places, navigating foreign languages, schools, politics, and cultures.
In each new place I’ve moved, I have carved out a vibrant life for myself and my family. But it. Has. Been. Hard.
Dozens of…
hellos
goodbyes
suitcases packed and unpacked
lost possessions
airport meals and nights slept on the floor
miscommunications
missed birthdays, weddings, births, and funerals
tropical illnesses
In my years overseas, I’ve also experienced a traumatic car accident and working in high poverty and stress communities. Though it looks messy from the outside, there’s nowhere I’d rather be serving with my family.
My children have taught me so much about the importance of grieving well and leaning into rituals during each transition. In our work together, I’ll draw from my unique experiences as well as my extensive training through Lauren Wells’ books and training courses at tcktraining.com .
